“From a young age Joshua‘s heart and lung condition has stopped him from keeping up with his peers. When his friends would go out and play football and do other sporting activities, Joshua’s time was spent having regular hospital appointments, operations and on a lifetime of medication. However, his love of music and his passion for playing the guitar has meant that he now has the confidence to join a rock and pop group, organised by Stoke on Trent city council. Music has finally helped him feel he can be part of a team. Joshua thoroughly enjoys his guitar lessons at ODM with Matt and he is constantly practicing his skills. He always tries his best and enjoys being challenged, resulting in him achieving a distinction in his guitar grade exam. His uncle is part of a band and Joshua regularly helps backstage with the lightning. At Christmas he and his cousin, who plays the drums and is also a student at ODM were given the opportunity to play with the band. Performing Summer of 69, Joshua as lead guitar and his cousin on drums. Music has helped Joshua become a confident young man. His heart and lung condition Is not going to stop him achieve his goals when it comes to music.”
